This is your chance to experience Bata Greine, the National Park's solar boat, on a gentle trip to Inchcailloch island, part of the Loch Lomond National Nature Reserve.
 
Suitable for all the family, wheelchairs and buggies. Bring weatherproof clothing and footwear for your visit to the island. Sorry - no dogs or unaccompanied children.

A fantastic opportunity to meet local bat experts and to find out more about these incredible, elusive creatures and their habitats with a talk and guided walk. Refreshments will be provided. Sponsored by Loch Eck Caravan Park.
 
£5 per person (children free - must be accompanied by an adult).
 
All ages welcome though the event may go on beyond 10pm. Please come dressed for the weather, with waterproofs, sturdy footwear, a torch and midge repellent (or net) essential. Sorry - no dogs allowed.

A variety of local handmade crafts including stained glass, jewellery, bath products, pin flair and rocking horses to mention a few. No charge to enter and the door collection is at your discretion in aid of the village hall.

YeABBA Loch Earn Swim (09:00)

When and Where

Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 September, 9am, Loch Earn (starts at the Lochearnhead Watersports Centre)
 
Swim the six and a half mile length of Loch Earn from Lochearnhead to St Fillans or cheer on the swimmers!  Closing date for entries: 11 August 2010. Open to all swimmers aged 12 and over. Run under British Long Distance Swimming Association rules and organised by “YeABBA” (Ye amphibious ancients bathing association) who have been in existence for over a hundred years.  
 
Competitors meet at 9am in the car park of the Lochearnhead Watersports Centre. Price: £55 to enter the race. 
 
The following day, join locals and visiting guests in a 1 mile swim race from the Lochearnhead Watersports Centre to the Crannog  near Edinample Castle and back again or come and give them some support. Closing Date for entries: August 11 2010. For accommodation see www.robroycountry.com.

Trossachs Classic Car Run (All Day)

Sunday 12 September, The Trossachs
 
View classic cars as they tour the Trossachs in the fourth annual National Park Classic Car Run, organised by the Caledonian Motor Sport Club.
 
The 100 mile route will begin at Boness and will work across central Scotland, visiting Forrestburn hillclimb before touring through the Trossachs and on to the Rest and be Thankful, finally completing the run in Arrochar.  
 
 
This year's event will form part of Scottsland the 200th Anniversary celebrations of Sir Walter Scott’s epic verse The Lady of the Lake, which was set in and around the Trossachs.

Heelster Gowdie (14:30 - 16:30)

Sunday 20 June, 18 July, 15 August & 19 September, 2.30pm, David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre, Aberfoyle.
 
Heelster Gowdie, the name means 'Head over Heels' are a group specialising in well known and well loved folk songs, delivered together with some cheeky chat and witty repartee! This will be their fifth season as resident band at the David Marshall Lodge.
 
Free concert (Donations welcome). Meet at the David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre. No booking required.

Trossachs Doors Open Days (All Day)

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September, times vary, locations around the Trossachs.
 
Doors Open Days is a national celebration of our wonderful built heritage and history, with buildings and sites not normally open to the public or charging, open for free.
 
This year’s National Park programme highlight sites related to Scott and his stories. Visit a farm at Strathard, where Scott wrote much of Rob Roy, a gothic church on the romatic shores of Loch Achray, a heritage display in Callander that includes copies of previoulsy unpuiblished Scott letters to a local family, Arden House, home of the 1960s Dr Findlay or listen to stories of fairies in  Aberfoyle.

Dumpling Duathlon (10:00)

When and Where

Saturday 18 September, 10am, Gartocharn
 
Come along to Gartocharn's first ever Dumpling Duathlon. It's a fun event the whole family can participate in!
 
The event begins with a 4km run/walk followed by a 9km cycle and finishes off with a climb up the Dumpling (weather and conditions permitting). All ages are welcome as are team entries - no excuses!
 
Entry costs: Individual £8, Team  £12. All money raised will be gifted to the village Primary School and the village Millennium Hall.

Kilmaronock Goes Green (at The Dumpling Duathlon) (10:14 - 11:14)

Come along to the Energy Monitor Library at Kilmaronock Millennium Hall where monitors will be available and you can find out more about home energy audits taking place in Kilmaronock.

Please note that car parking will be limited.

Community Futures Goes Green is a project to help communities to be more energy efficient, reduce their carbon footprint and to save money. Elements of the project include individual household energy audits, the opportunity to get reduced price insulation for your home and the Energy Monitor Loan Scheme.

The project is funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund and  Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and is delivered by the Community Partnership and Changeworks.

Could you have survived the Iron Age? Take our activity challenge using Iron Age tools and equipment. There'll be lots of hands-on activities to try while you discover the secrets of our ancestors. Organised by National Park Rangers and Cowal Archaeological Society as part of Scottish Archaeology Month.

The Chase & The Wee Chase (All Day)

Saturday 25 September 2010, Callander to Loch Katrine.
 
The Chase is inspired by the first canto of Sir Walter Scott's poem Lady of the Lake and includes two events  - The Chase Off Road Duathlon for the more serious weekend warrior covering 40 miles on bike and foot. And The Wee Chase, a family friendly event of 10 miles with cycle rides and historically themed orienteering tasks.
 
Join in the fun and witness re-enactments, intriguing participants and enjoy a treasure hunt in pursuit of the iconic ‘spirit’ stag.

Fiddlers' Bid Concert (19:15)
