Rural Housing Enabler
A project to help rural communities in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs
National Park take action on local housing problems has been established by the
National Park Authority and the Rural Housing Service with support from Argyll
and the Islands LEADER and Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER.
Peter Pearson, the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs Rural Housing Enabler helps communities
identify and develop solutions to address the issue of affordable and local
needs housing in the National Park.
Peter is working at a grass roots level with local landowners,
communities, the National Park Authority, local authorities, housing
associations and other housing related organisations to enable new housing
opportunities in the Park. The role of the Rural Housing Enabler includes:
- Community based pilot projects with communities who have expressed a desire to find new ways to meet their housing needs.
- Working with landowners to deliver new small scale affordable housing opportunities.
- Increasing collaborative working between communities and housing organisations.
- Information and advice to communities and individuals on their housing options.
- Information on grants and funding.
- Undertaking local research to provide a more detailed understanding of housing need and demand.
Peter is employed by the Rural Housing Service, a national charity
which helps rural communities in Scotland to develop practical solutions to
local housing problems. The Enabler post is initially a part-time, two year
project.
