Carrochan, National Park Headquarters
National Park Authority staff took up residence in their new home,
Carrochan, on Monday 21 April 2008. It was officially opened by Michael
Russell MSP, Environment Minister, on Tuesday 20 May 2008.
Carrochan is a two-storey structure with twin-pitched slate roofs.
It embodies high standards in sustainability, including a biomass
primary heating system, extensive use of natural materials and most
notably a native Douglas fir timber structure.
At the pre-contract stage the building achieved an excellent BREEAM rating
(the industry standard for sustainability). Now the building is
complete we will be aiming for another excellent rating in our post
construction evaluation.
