David McKenzie is a resident of Blairmore where he runs his own consultancy in renewable energy. David is a native of Glasgow and spent the first part of his business life working in the ICT industry, living for extended periods in Europe, England and the USA.

 

Having reached a senior executive position in the ICT business, David took early retirement and he and his wife Patricia decided to move to Argyll in 2006. As well as his commitment to renewable energy, David is passionately interested in local history and heritage.

 

For over 25 years, David has a track record of success in managing innovation – bringing forward new ideas and turning them into successful projects. These skills, acquired in business, are now being devoted to community projects, such as the proposed district heating system in the Cowal shores area.

 

David is Secretary of the Benmore & Kilmun Community Development Trust and Managing Director of Argyll Mausoleum Limited, a community initiative to restore the Argyll Mausoleum in Kilmun. David is also a Director of the Dunoon & Cowal Business Association, a member of the Forward Dunoon & Cowal group, Chairman of the Argyll, Lomond and the Isles Energy Agency (ALIenergy), a Director of Our Power, Cairndow, a supplier of wood chips, and secretary to the Scottish Microrenewables Working Group, a group advising the Scottish Government on matters relating to microrenewables.
