Friends of the West Highland Line Society

£7684.50 was awarded towards work undertaken at the
Tarbet Gap near Arrochar. Dense scrub
and trees were removed in order to open up views along an important stretch of
this iconic route linking Glasgow with Oban, Fort William and Mallaig.
Innishewan Farms

£7081 was awarded towards measures to survey and
restore an 18th century burial enclosure in Glen Dochart. Work included an initial archaeological
survey and removal of trees within the enclosure. This is to be followed by the restoration of
the wall enclosing the gravestones during 2010.
Glenample Estate


£14,578.60 was awarded towards a variety of measures to
improve the habitat for black grouse in the glen, and assist with reducing the
risk of birds colliding with deer fences.
Works included dismantling an existing deer fence, erecting a new
deer fence and marking the fence with pales/droppers to increase visibility
for the birds, and thinning of dense patches of Sitka spruce.
Helensburgh and District Access Trust


£20,000 was awarded to the Trust for construction of
1100 metres of path at Highlandman’s Road, Glen Fruin. This path will improve access
from Glen Fruin to Helensburgh, and will form part of the Three Lochs Way
Access Project being undertaken by the Trust to link towns and villages on the
west side of Loch Lomond between Balloch and Inveruglas.

£1380 was awarded towards the production of a
‘geological guide to Balmaha’.
