In recognition of the special architectural and historical character of the village of St Fillans, the National Park Authority designated the St Fillans Conservation Area on 10 October 2011. A street index lists all the properties located within the conservation area boundary.
Conservation Area Appraisals
The Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (Scotland)
Act 1997
requires the National Park Authority to
formulate and publish a set of proposals for the preservation and enhancement
of each conservation area, by way of a thorough appraisal of its character and
appearance.
These appraisals provide a framework for assessing development
proposals within the conservation areas in question and are supplementary to
the Local Plan. We have prepared appraisals for all of the designated conservation areas in the National Park.
We wish to encourage people who live in the
conservation areas to enhance their built heritage. In order to help we
have Conservation Area Regeneration
Grant Schemes in Killin and Callander. We hope to offer this to other
areas in the future.
Planning Restrictions in Conservation Areas
If you live in a conservation area then your permitted development rights are
restricted. In Luss and Killin further permitted development rights have been
removed via Article 4 Directions.
We are happy to advise you on whether planning permission is required for
works within your conservation area.
Demolition is also controlled in conservation areas and an application must be made for Conservation
Area Consent to the National Park Authority when any structure or building is to be
demolished. Where a building is also
listed then only listed building consent would be required.
If you have any questions about
the submission of a conservation area consent application then please contact
the Planning Information Officer tel:01389 722024 or email
