Local Plan

The Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Local Plan and its supporting documents guide planning decisions, making sure that new development is of the highest quality, is in the right places and delivers the aspirations of communities and aims of the National Park.

As the Planning Authority for the Park area, the National Park Authority has a statutory duty to prepare a Local Development Plan containing policy and guidance which directs future development and use of land. The Local Development Plan also has to be set in the context of achieving the National Park’s four statutory aims and delivering the relevant outcomes in the National Park Plan.

As we started developing our Local Plan before enactment of the Planning etc (2006) Act through the Town & Country Planning (Development Planning) (Scotland) Regulations 2008, we prepared a Local Plan through transitional arrangements. We will replace the Local Plan with a Local Development Plan; details are included in our Development Plan Scheme.

The Adopted Local Plan replaces all previous Local Plans and with the relevant structure plans forms the Development Plan for the National Park area. The structure plans include:

  • Glasgow and Clyde Valley (Approved 2000, Fourth Alteration 2008),
  • Clackmannanshire and Stirling (Approved 2002,Second Alteration 2004)
  • Argyll and Bute (Approved 2002),
  • Perth and Kinross, (Approved 2003)

This section contains the Adopted Local Plan and all associated documents. Please click on the menu on the left to find the information you are looking for.

The Supplementary Planning Guidance page contains a series of accompanying documents to the Local Plan.

The Development Plan Scheme page gives details of how we will deliver our Adopted Local Plan and how we will prepare our coming Local Development Plan.

On this page you will find the most up to date information such as recent publications and consultations with regards to the Local Plan and supporting documents. This page will be updated regularly.
