Brigadier Pearson II
The Brigadier Pearson II was launched in May 2007. She is an 11 metre Redbay Stormforce, Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) with a cabin to offer protection to crew and passengers. She is powered by twin Diesel Stern drive units giving a total installed power of 490 bhp. In addition to this, bow thrusters have been fitted to further improve manoeuvrability. Brigadier Pearson II has been MCA coded for commercial operation to MCA Category 2 and her top speed is around 35 knots.
One of Brigadier’s duties is servicing the navigation buoys on Loch Lomond and as such the craft has been geared up around this role. Two heavy duty stainless steel rollers and a deck mounted winch have been fitted to allow the heavy buoys to be winched straight up onto the deck over the stern. In addition, the working deck has been reinforced and fitted with aluminium plating. To aid towing and external duties, an additional elevated helm position has been fitted at the aft end of the cabin with console and engine controls.
The helm is kitted out with radar, VHF, GPS, man overboard sensors and an onboard computer to view the boat database. Brigadier Pearson II also has fore and aft cameras and the galley has been fitted with a fridge, microwave, gas hob, shower and a toilet.
Osprey II
Osprey II is a Redbay Stormforce 7.4 meter RIB and was launched in 2011. She has twin 115 hp engines which are capable of reaching a top speed of 40 knots. She is kitted out with VHF, GPS and a depth sounder, first aid kits and basket stretcher, she is our most versatile boat due to the good mix of speed, towing ability and manoeuvrability.
Otter
The smallest of the patrol boats also launched in 2011, is a Redbay Stormforce 6.1m with a single 115hp Suzuki engine. Her top speed is around 35 knots, she is usually used for island patrols as she is useful for getting into the shallower areas of Loch Lomond.
Searider – Based at Loch Earn
The smallest of the patrol boats, the Searider is a 5.4 meter Avon with a single 60hp Yamaha engine. She is around three years old and her top speed is around 25 knots.
