Working in Partnership
Operation Ironworks, a
six-month initiative aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour at some of
Scotland’s iconic beauty spots and part of our Respect the Park campaign, was launched for a fourth year running on 7 April 2011.
Operation Ironworks is led
by Central Scotland Police and run in conjunction with Rangers from the National
Park Authority and Forestry Commission Scotland along with Strathclyde and
Tayside Police forces. Together these organisations provide high profile
patrols across the Park.
As part of the Respect the
Park campaign a number of other innovative initiatives have been implemented:
- A dedicated National Park Police Officer to co-ordinate tackling anti-social behaviour across the Park;
- Increased visibility of National Park Rangers at key locations;
- A focus on key hotspots by Rangers and Police, including joint patrols;
- A stronger Police presence on holiday weekends; and
- Four National Park Authority Rangers have trained as Police Special Constables and now have increased powers.
